Sacramento Bee columnist Peter Schrag says California's improving economy gives state Education Secretary Alan Bersin a much-needed opportunity to win back the good will of an education lobby still bitter over the governor's broken funding promise of two years ago. Bersin's priorities seem to be on the right track, Schrag feels, but whatever money is invested in education needs to be carefully spent.
