Very light jets may increase risks, official says

Airlines are concerned about very light jets, or VLJs, operating in the same airspace as larger commercial jetliners. "Looking ahead, we see the possibility of new risks emerging," Air Transport Association Vice President, Operations and Safety, Basil Barimo, told the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. The introduction of VLJs raises training and maintenance questions, he said.
