Implantable device could monitor tumors

A real-time tiny silicone rod filled with sensing nanoparticles could help doctors monitor the effect of chemotherapy drugs on tumors and discover if cancer reoccurs. Developed by Boston researchers, the device's nanoparticles cluster and become visible on MRI scans when cancer markers, such as cancer drugs or growth hormones, are present.
