Concerns rise over bird flu in Asia as winter approaches

Cases of H5N1 avian flu have been reported recently in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia and Cambodia, and one microbiology professor has raised concern that these could increase as winter draws near, when the risks of seasonal influenza also rise. While the strain primarily affects poultry, it has the potential to evolve into a human disease that potentially could kill tens of millions of people.
