CPI expected to signal inflation's return to U.S.

Economists predicted that the latest Consumer Price Index for the U.S. will put the spotlight on inflation. The year-on-year CPI comparison is expected to shift from negative to positive. "If November's prices rise above October's prices at the same average rate as has occurred so far this year, then the [Bureau of Labor Statistics] will say that consumer prices are up 1.7% from November 2008," economist Bob Murphy said.
