Fannie, Freddie regulator renegotiates financing plan

The Federal Housing Finance Agency is negotiating with the U.S. Treasury about a financing plan for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The mortgage giants' regulator might ask for an increase in their federal lifeline before the year ends, sources said. In less than a year, Fannie and Freddie have used more than $111 billion of their $400 billion lifeline.
