"The Fourth Paradigm" expands on the theories of Jim Gray

Microsoft Research has published a book of essays titled "The Fourth Paradigm: Data-Intensive Scientific Discovery," expounding upon the data-based science theories of Dr. Jim Gray, who vanished at sea in 2007. Gray had insisted that scientists must respond to endless seas of data with new computing techniques, focusing on distributed computing across networks of machines.
