Gillibrand may face challenge from Republican Blakeman

Bruce A. Blakeman, a former member of the board of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, is considering a run against U.S. Sen. Kirsten E. Gillibrand, D-N.Y., next year. Blakeman, who ran an unsuccessful campaign for New York State comptroller in 1998, said he has been meeting with Republican Party leaders to discuss a possible run. "Most have encouraged me to consider running," Blakeman said.
