Preschool program focuses on school readiness for at-risk students

An early-education program in Mississippi is focused on enhancing school readiness for young students who are at-risk or who have disabilities while also serving as a lab for aspiring educators at a local university. The program is a three-year collaboration between the local school district, a community Head Start and the University of Southern Mississippi's Institute of Disability Studies, which trains educators. "National research shows that the sooner you get kids into intervention programs, the better they will do in school," said one of the program's organizers.
