Study links antidepressants, stroke risk in older women

Postmenopausal women taking selective serotonin uptake inhibitors have a 45% higher risk of stroke and a 32% higher risk of death from any cause than those who don't take the antidepressants, study data showed. Researchers cautioned, however, that the overall annual risk of stroke remained small, measuring 0.3% for women who didn't take antidepressants and from 0.4% to 0.5% for women who did.
