Md. nonprofit center marks 50 years serving people with disabilities

The Providence Center, a nonprofit day-care center founded in 1961, now provides job training and placement, classes in basic computer skills, art workshops and other activities for some 500 adults with developmental disabilities at five sites throughout Anne Arundel County, Md. "We have gone from essentially providing day care in some form or other to really trying to find a way for each of these individuals to thrive and meet the goals they dream of," said Charles Goodman, president of the board.
