Report: Verizon could buy Intel's TV service as soon as this week

Verizon Communications reportedly is close to acquiring Intel's OnCue Internet-based pay-TV service. Intel has been shopping around the proprietary service after deciding not to get into the programming business. The acquisition "has the potential to change U.S. pay TV forever," said Pacific Crest Securities analyst Andy Hargreaves. "Untethering the linear video service from the network could dramatically increase competition."
