Is technology making students' data less secure?

The rush to adopt online systems for storing students' data has left such data less secure -- due in part to inadequate privacy protections and poorly defined contracts -- according to a study by the Center on Law and Information Policy at Fordham Law School. "Schools right now are unable to deal effectively with privacy issues," the study's lead author Joel Reidenberg said. "They're not in a position to understand the implications of some of the services they're contracting."
