Record statewide highway safety project launched in Texas

Texas is launching a $600 million highway safety project to widen rural roads, add barriers to medians and build new left-turn lanes. The project, which is the largest highway safety project in the state's history, was announced just before the Texas Transportation Commission was due to select a developer to plan the first stage of the Trans Texas Corridor, a network of 4,000-plus miles of highway and railways that will cover the state.
