Manufacturers announce forecasts, layoffs and bankruptcies

U.S. manufacturers announced lowered earning forecasts across the board. Eaton Corp. cut its profit forecast, and Johnson Controls withdrew its guidance. Air Products and Chemicals also announced plans to lay off 1,300 employees. Two U.S. auto suppliers, Key Plastics LLC and Special Devices, filed for bankruptcy.
