IBM, two other firms pilot "SMS for Life" project in Tanzania

IBM has partnered with Vodafone and Novartis, along with the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, to launch SMS for Life, a project that utilizes Web sites and text messaging to manage anti-malarial drug supplies and help combat the disease in Africa. The program initially is being tested in 135 Tanzanian villages where health providers are prompted via SMS to check their drug inventories weekly so that supplies can be delivered before they are depleted.
