Low-fat diet may be part of ischemic colitis treatment

A low-fat diet and extra fluids may be recommended for patients with ischemic colitis, which is caused by impaired flow of blood to the colon, one expert said. Ischemic colitis is linked to atherosclerosis, and physicians also may prescribe medication to keep a patient's blood pressure readings normal.
