Blippy, a new social-media network currently in private beta, provides a constant stream of updates based on subscribers' credit card usage, allowing people to broadcast their iTunes or Amazon purchases or automatically let friends know their location or activity. The startup is of interest to marketers because the outfit could allow advertisers to serve up highly specific messages tailored to users' specific interests and purchase histories. "There's a lot of interesting data we're hoping to provide," says Blippy founder Philip Kaplan.
