The FINRA Investor Education Foundation, with input from the AICPA, surveyed Americans on their personal finances -- including their ability to pay their bills and save for retirement, college expenses and emergencies. The findings are, in some cases, "unsettling," according to Richard G. Ketchum, the foundation's chairman. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who was on hand to help unveil the survey results, said the "stakes for financial education are extraordinarily high."
