Union launches campaign to forbid offshore airline repairs

The Transport Workers Union will launch a campaign today urging lawmakers to prohibit airlines from using offshore maintenance stations. The FAA insists both foreign and domestic repair stations undergo the same certification process, and airlines defend the quality of the work done in overseas shops. Among other allegations, TWU says overseas stations lack proper security procedures to prevent terrorists from gaining access to aircraft.
