SEC looks at rules for clearing of securities-based swaps

The Securities and Exchange Commission is considering rules for securities-based swaps clearing as well as an exception for companies that hedge risk using such derivatives. Under the Dodd-Frank Act, the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission must decide whether exemptions on currency, commodity and interest-rate trades should be made.
