Survey highlights health, safety issues faced by nurses

Eighty percent of nurses report that they frequently work despite neck, shoulder and back pain caused by the job, according to ANA's Health and Safety Survey of 4,614 registered nurses. As in the 2001 survey, respondents named the effects of stress and overwork as their leading concern about their work environment. "Health care employers must ensure a safe and healthy work environment if they wish to recruit and retain nurses," ANA President Karen A. Daley said.
