Veterinarian gives back to 9/11 canine hero

Hoke was a 2-year-old in September 2001, when he and 99 other search-and-rescue dogs searched for victims in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Now 13 and suffering from debilitating arthritis, Hoke got a hero's welcome and more than $2,000 worth of stem-cell treatment from veterinarian Chris Persing. "He's served our country, so I feel privileged I can try to benefit his future," Dr. Persing said.
