Expert makes case for "multi-dimensional" approach to cybersecurity

As utilities come to rely more on IP-based networking technologies they will become much more vulnerable to cyberattacks, according to Ken Van Meter, a principal at Booz Allen Hamilton who says mitigating the risk will require new forensic techniques with the ability to root out and expose emerging threats. Van Meter says legacy security methods such as firewalls and antivirus software are too limiting and must be replaced by a "multi-dimensional" approach that relies on advanced mathematical models, algorithms and heuristic analysis.
