17% of corporate board seats are held by women, study finds

The proportion of women serving on Fortune 500 company boards remains essentially flat at about 17% this year, according to a study by Catalyst. The research also found women hold less than 15% of senior executive positions. "Frankly, it's embarrassing because there's no excuse in 2013 for women to remain shut out of the most senior decision-making roles in these companies," said Deborah Gillis, chief operating officer of Catalyst.
