China agrees to expansion in number of U.S. FDA inspectors

The Chinese government has agreed to let the U.S. FDA add 10 new inspectors in China, after the request was made by Vice President Joe Biden during his recent Bejing trip. "It's a big request for any government to allow an increase in foreign inspectors in your country," said Christopher Hickey, director of the FDA's China office. The additional oversight aims to reduce the importation of tainted drug ingredients into the U.S.
