Lawmakers want tech companies protected in trade deals

The Congressional High Tech Caucus says it wants tech companies better protected when it comes to trade agreements, specifically in negotiations with the EU, Canada, Brazil and Germany on issues such as data location and processing data abroad. "These policies threaten to harm American and international businesses, global customers, and the successful development of cloud technologies and services, both here and abroad," the lawmakers wrote in a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman.
