New chip supports MHL 3.0 cables for transmitting Ultra HD video

Silicon Image has introduced the SiI8620 MHL 3.0 transmitter chip, which enables smartphones to transfer Ultra HD video to television sets or other displays by cables. It also debuted the SiI9394 MHL 3.0-to-HDMI 2.0 bridge chip and the SiI6031 MHL 3.0 multimedia switch chip. "We're seeing video drive this change as well as the use of smartphones to play games that you can view on the big screen," Silicon Image's David Kuo said. "The experience is much more immersive on your TV."
