U.S. approves WTO plan to make generics more available in poor countries

The U.S. is the first to approve a World Trade Organization plan to boost the availability of generic drugs in developing nations. The amendment to intellectual property rules is designed to enable poor countries to import generic drugs to treat such major diseases as malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
