CalPERS struggles to overcome bad land deals

CalPERS, California's public pension fund, is suffering from ill-timed real estate deals. The fund invested in property at the peak of the property bubble and today stands as one of the nation's biggest owners of undeveloped land. A unit of CalPERS has begun selling land at a loss to raise cash.
