China Mobile awards most 3G work to Alcatel, partner

Alcatel-Lucent's Chinese unit and partner Datang Mobile have won the largest share of the contract to build the second phase of China Mobile's TD-SCDMA 3G trial under the telecom's tender offer. In expanding the wireless network to an additional 11 cities, Alcatel and Datang will build on their work for Phase 1 of the network in which they deployed more than 2,000 base stations in both Guangzhou and Shanghai.
