Early childhood education continues to be an Obama priority

President-elect Barack Obama's campaign pledge to invest $10 billion in early childhood education would be the largest such initiative since Head Start was launched in 1965. Obama transition officials say the recession has not derailed his plans: "We simply cannot afford to sideline key priorities like education," said spokeswoman Jen Psaki.
