Stimulus plan: $100 million to smart grid, other green energy projects

Energy experts spoke before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, urging lawmakers to pass a stimulus package next year for the energy industry. Part of the stimulus plan could devote $100 million to the smart grid and other green energy projects. "Clearly, there are a number of important energy measures that can be implemented quickly and will provide green jobs, result in significant energy savings and enhance the infrastructure needed to move to a clean energy economy," said Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., committee chairman.
