House passes COBRA extension

The House on Wednesday approved an extension of COBRA for six months, making people who lose their jobs through Feb. 28, 2010, eligible for the federally subsidized health insurance premiums. The bill would also extend coverage for six months for beneficiaries whose nine-month subsidy has run out. Washington insiders say the bill is on the "fast track" for Senate action.
