Keep landfills clear with "precycling"

Despite its many virtues, recycling still entails energy use and creates its own share of pollution. Precycling, in contrast, involves deliberately buying items that will generate less waste, as well as those that can be reused for another purpose. Examples include concentrated detergent (which reduces the need for packaging), choosing an electronic version of a publication over a printed one, and purchasing a reusable container rather than disposable wrappings.
