Report: It's too soon to celebrate soaring multifamily starts

The 67% jump in multifamily housing starts posted by the construction industry in November was dramatic, but analysts said it was more likely a blip than the beginning of an apartment boom. The increase was calculated from a historic low of 55,000 in October. IHS Global Insight said in a note to its clients that "percentage increases from levels [this] low are meaningless figures."
