Uninsured get cheaper blood tests through Web-based program

The Summit County Medical Society in Akron, Ohio, has arranged for cheaper blood tests for uninsured patients through a collaboration with Prepaid Lab, which operates a Web-based ordering site for laboratory tests. Prepaid can allow for lower rates for lab tests because its program can do away with billing, collection and bad-debt costs, Prepaid Lab CEO Tom Patton said.
