30-year fixed mortgage hits 4.83% as U.S. rates keep climbing

Soaring Treasury yields forced U.S. home-mortgage rates up for a fifth consecutive week. The average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage jumped to 4.83%, up from 4.61% the week before, Freddie Mac said. That same rate was at a 40-year low of 4.17% last month.
