BNSF's Rose weighs in on state of U.S. economy, rail business

The U.S. economy is growing, but the pace of that growth has slowed, said BNSF CEO Matthew Rose. However, the manufacturing sector's anticipated resurgence is expected to benefit railroads, he added. As for BNSF's business growth, Rose shared his thoughts on intermodal, rail traffic, the Bakken Shale boom and the railroad's hiring spree. Meanwhile, Rose is scheduled to visit Galesburg, Ill., in January to offer his insights on the potential of the area's economic development.
