Can the "Internet of things" boost firms' productivity?

The "Internet of things" could add between 1% and 1.5% of U.S. productivity growth annually through 2030, two General Electric executives say. Building sensors and smart, Web-connected technologies into industrial machines will provide efficiency savings and turbo-charge a range of industries, the pair argue.
