Social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter have helped property/casualty insurers assist policyholders affected by Hurricane Sandy, writes Katie Peet of State Auto Insurance. "For insurance professionals, social media is not something to resist. Rather, it's the answer to a business problem shared by our industry. ... It's as if social media were specifically designed to meet the needs of insurance companies and agencies responding to catastrophic events," Peet writes.
