Opposing "fiscal cliff" plans start to look similar

President Barack Obama proposed leaving in place Bush-era tax cuts for Americans with annual income of less than $400,000 in his latest plan for averting the "fiscal cliff." He backed a measure that would slow the growth of social programs, particularly Social Security, and is not pushing for extension of payroll tax cut. Matters that separate Obama and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, now relate to cost, rather than philosophical differences.
