$120M in Race to the Top grants go to 5 school groups

Five school groups will receive $120 million through the federal Race to the Top program, Education Secretary Arne Duncan announced Tuesday. This marks the second year that schools have received the federal funds directly, and officials said the locally directed pilot programs include efforts to help students earn high-school diplomas and associate degrees at the same time, training for teachers for student-paced learning and take-home laptop programs.
