448-turbine order shows cost of wind energy is dropping, experts say

Warren Buffett's MidAmerican Energy Holdings has ordered 448 wind turbines for use on Iowa wind farms -- a sign, experts say, that the industry's declining equipment costs are making wind more competitive with coal. "If Congress were to remove all the subsidies from every energy source, the wind industry can compete on its own," says Tom Kiernan, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association.
