IBM has published its annual list of five key innovations it expects to see in the next five years, including changes to buying patterns, urban management and the medical profession. This exercise helps shape IBM's business strategies, explains Bernie Meyerson, vice president of innovation. "We try to get a sense of where the world is going because that focuses where we put our efforts," he said. "The harder part is nailing down what you want to focus on."
