Aircraft that can drive are on the horizon

Aircraft designed to also use the road are on the horizon, but they are designed for people who already have pilot licenses. Terrafugia CEO Carl Dietrich says the Transition aims to overcome some of the problems with hobby flying: the high cost of fuel and the absence of ground transportation at many small airports. Likewise, the PAL-V ONE is a gyrocopter that looks like a motorcycle when used on the road. PAL-V CEO Robert Dingemanse said the ONE is designed "more as a driving airplane than flying car."
