Craft brewers poured $34 million into 2012 economy

The craft beer industry contributed $33.9 billion to the U.S. economy last year, according to a study from the Brewers Association. In 2012, some 2,347 craft breweries sold more than 13 million barrels of beer at a value of $11.9 billion. "As consumers continue to demand a wide range of high quality, full-flavored beers, small and independent craft brewers are meeting this growing demand with innovative offerings, creating high levels of economic value in the process," said Brewers Association Staff Economist Bart Watson.
