Florida fights for private flood insurance

Florida legislators are fighting against skyrocketing federal flood insurance rates with bills designed to open the market to private insurers. "We plan to help them by offering insurance prices at near-current rates without the drastic federal mandated increases anticipated under the Biggert-Waters Act," Scott Wallace, president of Homeowners Choice Property & Casualty Insurance, said in a statement.
