Gallegos wins runoff for Houston City Council

Houston City Council candidate Robert Gallegos won a runoff Saturday, capturing 53% of the vote to 47% for opponent Graci Garces. Gallegos will become the only openly gay Latino council member in Texas when he takes office. One other member of the council is gay, and Mayor Annise Parker is openly lesbian.
