Older women spend a majority of their day being sedentary

Among more than 7,200 older women, the average amount of time spent in sedentary behavior was 9.7 hours each day, or 65.5% of their waking hours, according to a study published in JAMA. Researchers noted that about one-third of sedentary periods lasted approximately 30 minutes.
